# I can't sign in or forgot my password

Sign in with a magic link or Google when you forgot your password, and fix an expired link or a Too many attempts message.

## Sign in without your password

You do not need a password to sign in. A magic link is the main way in, and it works whether or not you ever set a password.

  1. **Open the sign-in page**
   Go to the sign-in page. If you are already signed in, RareMachine takes you straight to the dashboard.

  2. **Enter your email**
   Type the same email address you signed up with in the **Email** field.

  3. **Send the link**
   Choose **Send a magic link**. The page confirms and asks you to check your inbox and your spam folder.

  4. **Open the email**
   Open the email with the subject `Your RareMachine sign-in link` and follow the link. You can open it on any device.

Result: you land in the dashboard without typing a password.

**Tip:** If you prefer Google, choose **Continue with Google** at the top of the sign-in page instead.

## Use a password if you remember it

On the sign-in page choose **Use a password instead**, enter your **Email** and **Password**, then choose **Sign in**. Choose **Use a magic link instead** to go back.

## Messages you may see

### When you ask for a link

`We couldn’t send a sign-in link to that address. Check the spelling and try again.`

Fix the spelling of the address and send the link again.

`Request another sign-in link`

After a link is sent, this button waits 60 seconds and counts down as `Request another link in 60s`. Wait for it, then choose it once. Use the newest email.

`Too many emails requested. Please try again in 30s.`

You asked for several emails in a row. The number of seconds changes. Wait that long, then ask once more.

### When you open a link or sign in

`That sign-in link expired or was already used. Please start again.`

A sign-in link works once. Go back to the sign-in page and send a new one.

`It expired or was already used. Send yourself a new one.`

Same cause: open the newest email, or send a new link.

`This email already has a RareMachine account created a different way. Sign in with your password or request a magic link for the same email address.`

Your email already has an account. Use Continue with Google or a magic link for that same address, or sign in with the password you set.

`Too many attempts. Please try again in 30s.`

You tried to sign in several times in a row. The number of seconds changes. Wait, then try once.
